Fiction Making
This paper concerns the nature of the activity in which people engage when
they produce works of fiction. It addresses, with varying success, such
questions as: how does the making of fiction differ from the making of
non-fiction? How does it differ from lying? Do people really create
fictional objects when they produce works of fiction? How? How can
something be true in a work of fiction when that work does not explicitly
represent it?
