I've just written a guide to applying to US and UK graduate programs
in philosophy. It can be found online at:

It's a basic guide to the procedures involved, with some advice and
recommendations. I thought it might be particularly useful for other
Australian students who aren't familiar with these overseas systems.
The guide is based on my experiences applying last year, so it also
reflects current practice.
