The Political Philosophy Discussion Group will meet on Wednesday the 15th of September from 12-1:30pm in the SOPHI Common Room (822, Level 8, Brennan MacCallum Building).
We will be discussing Herman Melville's short story "Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street". As a supplement, attendees might also like to read Jacques Ranciere's essay "Deleuze, Bartleby, and the Literary Formula" from his book The Flesh of Words, trans. Charlotte Mandell (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 2004), 146-165. I have pdf copies of both texts, so please email me if you are planning to attend. I'm told there is a meeting in the SOPHI Common Room until 12, so please wait for that meeting to end before going into the room. All are welcome! If you have any further questions, would like to suggest a text for discussion, or would like a copy of the text, please contact Nick Malpas on [email protected].
