Title: "Stability and Homeostasis within Natural Kinds"
The Homeostatic Property Cluster (HPC) account of natural kinds represents
our best hope for accommodating biological kinds. However, the account
faces a number of problems stemming from its use of causal mechanism as a
key ground for a property cluster's homeostasis. I show how to sidestep
these problems by shifting our focus from mechanism to stability. In so
doing, we end up with a more general and unified (and thus more satisfying)
account of natural kinds.
