Dear All, The following item may be of interest:
Macquarie Research seminar series Friday 7 October 1.30-3.30pm W6A Rm 708 Gregory Flaxman (UNC) Philosophy Among Friends: Nietzsche and Deleuze This talk concerns Deleuze’s “philosophical friendship” with Nietzsche. While their intimate intellectual relationship was once taken as a matter of course, a number of critics—above all, Fredric Jameson, Slavoj Žižek, and Alain Badiou—have labored to cleanse Deleuze of his Dionysian spirit. This lecture seeks to restore Nietzsche to Deleuze’s thought and, more generally, to argue that the concept of friendship (philia) constitutes the internal condition of his philosophy.
