The parts of madness in Plato's Phaedrus.\n\nAbs tract: I will argue that philosophers and historians of science should avo id the talk of cutting nature at the joints that they derive from the pass age at 265e in Plato's Phaedrus. They should avoid this talk because a wid er reading of the Phaedrus suggests that Plato confuses the metacognitive division of information described as 'chunking' by George A. Miller for a metaphysical division of nature into real or true kinds.
