I think I figured out what is wrong with my patch. It leads to the
question: do we want to automatically combine
exp(a)*exp(b-a) => exp(b)? And if so, where should we draw the line. Do
we want to automatically combine
exp(a+b-c)*exp(-b+c) => exp(a) or exp(a+b-c)*exp(-b)*exp(c) => exp(a) ...
Checking all of the possible
combinations of exponents can become costly fast.
