Thanks for your help - I found the module / functions and your suggested method is working well. Apologies for the confusion - I looked for iterables at the top level of sympy, but failed to spot it was in utilities. (I've been away from both Python and sympy for a while and need to get back up to speed and not make these silly mistakes!!!)
