Comment #21 on issue 447 by asmeurer: Better unicode square root
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=447

By the way, the font I'm using is DejaVu Sans Mono. I don't know if things have changed since comment 12, but this is by far the best font I've found for unicode pretty printing. It's actually the only font on my system where the square root lines up exactly with this change (though with all fonts, the gap is smaller than it was before). It's also the only font where there are no gaps at all in integral signs (this is why I suspect that the changes from comment 12 may have been back ported since then). In many fonts (such as Courier and Monaco), the / symbols used for square roots do not line up for tall square roots (at least on my computer), so they look just awful.

Actually, it's almost exactly the same as Menlo, the font that comes with Mac OS X and the one I used to use, except that in Menlo, there is still a gap in the fixed square root, and there are gaps in integral signs. So I guess Menlo was based on this font, but they've fixed the little problems in DejaVu Sans Mono.

So I highly recommend that anyone using SymPy use DejaVu Sans Mono (unless you can suggest an even better font).
