Right, I agree now that we should change the shebang lines. I'm not really sure how to write a fixer but I'll try, maybe my work will be good enough for upstream too. We might also need another custom fixer, so it would be good to know. The other issue is that it's not exactly clear to me how to use custom fixers when calling 2to3 directly (as opposed to via Distribute or Distutils), so that's one more thing to check out.
Also, feel free to cc me on any issues you submit upstream, I'm VPeric there.
