Thanks for the write up. I didn't realize that gmpy2 has this functionality. We already support gmpy and gmpy2 as optional dependencies to make the polys faster. We should additionally wrap gmpy2's primality tester if it is installed.

Where is the source for your Perl module? What is it licensed (though by the time we translate it to Python, it probably wouldn't matter)? Is it pure Perl or does it wrap C?

Are you interested in implementing any of these things in SymPy?
