Just out of curiosity; who ever uses "i" in any other context than a 
loop index? Just thinking, because that goes against so many programming 
paradigms... and if you only ever use it in that context; well... if the 
language doesn't require a loop variable to be initialized, why in dog's 
name should we initialize it?

Just my view on the matter...
