That's a problem with a lot of ISP nowadays. Their DNS server accepts any 
address
and redirects bad ones to a page showing an error message and a lot of 
advertising.
This first started with a redirection inside the different browsers but now a 
lot
of ISPs want advertising money also.

Since several Linux versions do a DNS request before checking for local servers
this new habit is a problem for a lot of network administrators.
