Prob. Within a second. I might try a timer as you suggest. I was sort of doing that already but with some funny results. Maybe I will just got back to the drawing board and try not to be too clever this time :-)

A thread would normally be the way I'd do what you are suggesting. But I've used a timer and done polling with slower data. How fast is your data?
