Chad, Madhava and I met with Mark Hammond and Tim to talk this through yesterday. Our conclusions were:
a) We should add explanatory prompts on log-out, and on second-log-in-with-different-ID b) no changes to UI flow otherwise (leave "Sign in to Firefox" menu panel item, which we had discussed removing or renaming) Rationale: a) mitigates the problem raised here "enough" and is simple. We think b) would not significantly affect user behavior in this regard (i.e. reduce the likelihood that someone expects to be able to sign in/out) to offset the complications it would cause with our existing interaction design (it would result in no good place to put the doorhanger, limited exposure of sync setup in some cases, etc.) and it would be odd to need to rename that item later on once we have more extensive non-Sync "Firefox Account" options, like complete profile switching support (like Chrome). These conclusions are documented here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/User_Services/Sync/Relaunch#Desktop_MVP https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=958927#c2 Gavin _______________________________________________ Sync-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/sync-dev
