Hi Deep Syncers,

In today’s Sync Fest (where a few of us sign in to the same Sync account to
give it a workout), we discovered a few issues that span desktop and accounts
on the web. These are tricky because we use both bugzilla and github, and are
often hard to tell if the client or the web has the problem.

Desktop browser appears connected in ways after password was reset on another
device.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
From desktop (Nightly), sign into an account that is syncing many devices
Confirm that tab syncing is working between devices (may need two people)
In Settings, under Change Password click “Forget Password”
Enter account email
From another device, click the reset link and create a new password
From original browser, I tried to log in but got “attempt limit exceeded”.
Maybe you will get this too.
I was also unable to sign in to manage account/change avatar (attempt limit
exceeded)

ACTUAL RESULTS (AR)
I was able to change the device name locally
EXPECTED RESULTS (ER)
I should not be able to change the device name locally

AR: Sync preferences did not indicate I was disconnected
ER: Sync preferences should enter verification required state

AR: Another device (desktop release) in the constellation was able to update my
display name
ER: Another device should have no way to do that as I’m not connected

AR: I can perform a manual sync, and the Last Sync time updates, though the
other device does not see my new tabs
ER: I should not be provided with feedback about something that is happening
when it isn't

Do any of these bugs appear to have your team’s name on them? Is there enough
information contained above to make them actionable? If yes and yes, go for it.
Otherwise, let me know.
