I am the webmaster/owner of a website that supports individuals living with the Gastric Bypass (a weight loss surgical procedure, that has been performed since 1967).
I have been living with the Gastric Bypass since July 13, 1979 at the age of 36 (forget doing the math I turned 62 this past April, and retired from Federal Civil Service). I have been operating websites since 1998, self-taught in HTML, Java, CGI, etc. I have been using PHP content management system software (PHPNuke) and currently BETA testing a NEW fork/branch of the PHPNuke CMS program. I have recently converted over my website using PHPNuke into a BLOG style format, eliminating the forums section (due to inactivity), my problem is that I lack "orginality" in website presentation. I am NOT very "new idea" oriented. I have therefore began looking to provide on my website news feeds from other sites that relate to my website "niche", NOT just anything to generate traffic. I had been using Java scripts for a short time, and now they have become hard to fine (java feed content) particular to my website's purpose. So, realizing that RDF/RSS feeds would be the next logical step, I am looking to learn more about this. My Website software does have a PHP driven backend for other websites to place my content on their's, and I can also incorporate other PHP website feeds without any problem into mine (but haven't found any related websites that are compatable with my site, using this format). PHP driven CMS software is supposed to handle RDF/RSS feeds from other sites, but so far haven't been able to do this in the format that I desire. It is just as important to me that the source for any feeds to my site be of good quality and NOT just marketing messages. That said, I am happy to find a group of others that also share the same interest and hope that you forgive me for such a "lengthy" introduction.
