Hi All,

As the originator and chief developer of Syndic8, this is a
lot of great feedback, and I would love to see more discussion.
I have always valued the community feedback, input, and
participation from everyone involved with Syndic8, and I only
wish that I had the ability to conduct even more 1:1 discussion
and support.

The original (mid-2001) concept for Syndic8 was for it to be
a place to come to find high quality RSS feeds on a variety
of topics. One reason that I created the site was to avoid
being the world's personal central point of contact for RSS
feeds. Before I built Syndic8, I built Headline Viewer, the
first (as far as I can tell) desktop RSS reader. At some point
in early 2000 I think that I had personal knowledge of over
90% of the RSS feeds that were then in existence. Syndic8
was born out of an effort to allow the community to help me
with the process of finding, submitting, organizing, and
improving the feeds.

We (I was able to say when Bill Kearney joined the effort
before the end of 2001) also wanted to provide feed owners
with the data needed to improve the quality and utility of
their feeds, and we wanted to collect a whole bunch of
extra "metadata" so that we knew even more about the feed
than simply what was inside it. Hence the efforts that we
have put into geo-coordinates, tags, categories, and so forth.

Clearly, the world has evolved a lot since the middle of 2001.
At that time, even the geekiest of my friends didn't know what
a feed was all about. Now that we have so many great feeds to
choose from, this is clearly no longer the case.

I do want to put some time into figuring out where we go next
what we need to add, what we need to remove, and what we need
to fade into the background for now.

To add some structure to this, can we discuss a couple of
things:

#1 - Top 3 things that you want to do with Syndic8 that are
     either impossible or too hard.

#2 - Top 3 things that you love about Syndic8.

#3 - Top 3 things that suck about Syndic8.

We'll try to put up some forums or a Wiki really soon to facilitate
this process, but there's no need to wait.

Ok, now on to the future!
