Marten,
A very interesting point of view on all this. I can put in my vote as
perhaps one of the few early Macintosh Clone users (Spectre GCR w/ Atari ST). I have
decided to beef up my Spectre Mac just so, if nothing else, our low end Mac Club can
say it has one active. :)
And since it can't run System 7 (as much as I wish it would) I am stuck in
System 6 land. Yahhh...

I really wish a good number of Newton apps would work under System 6. Then I
wouldn't care.

As for your view about the classic car, well all I have to say is, I see
Macintosh Plus (the original box) as gaining some nostalgia. Mac II on up not as much
so. To matter the fact, I think it will be the unique Macs that are remembered and
the rest will be discarded as "just another Mac". The survivors, I predict, will be
the Mac 128K-SE/30 (that style), the Hercules (the 20th anniversary Mac), The iMac,
the Cube... and the rest really are just there. :)
There are all in one units that I think might have some appeal to collectors
as well (The performa 550, the PowerMac 5200, etc) .
Which brings up a good point... why is everyone here using a classic Mac? I
have my Spectre Mac going since I need the Atari ST for other functions, it happens to
have the GCR emulator cart, and well... I grew rather attached to the early Mac
applications (especially Z-Term) so there you go.
        What about everyone else?
        Doctor Clu
