Howdy, I'm a long time Mac user who has recently been fed up trying to
keep my newer Macs up and running and compatable when all I really want
is simple email and word processing (I have an iBook I use for web
surfing, and a few other machines for writing and email). Anyway, I've
recently revived my SE/30 (with an installed internal CD-ROM drive and
modified front bezel, painted gloss white and labeled "i/30 CD" ) and
returned to using the glorious system 6.0.8 for word processing and
email.
And I must say, I've had none of the problems associated with the newer
systems! I can turn it on to write almost as quickly as my newton!
So, here are my questions. I'd like to retire my other machines (PB
3400c and PB 5300ce ) and move my non-web browsing/design work to system
6 again, in an effort to simplify my life. Anyway, I need a few more
hardware/software options before I can make that a reality. Here is what
I need:
A grayscale or black/white scanner that will run in system 6.
An early version (1?) of photoshop. (I draw cartoons that I scan in for
posting on websites) I'd prefer not to use the iBook for this. (Or would
MacDraw suffice?)
Does Newton Connection Utilities work in system 6?
Now, if you have any ideas or goodies, I need a scanner that will work,
early hotoshop software and I like to be a bit portable, so maybe a
PB100. I've got the PB3400c and 5300ce to trade if anyone is interested.
(Realistic trades, please). Also, my personal laserwriter 300 is on the
fritz, so I'd be interested in another of those. Please email me off
list if interested in trades as I am on digest. Simple answers to my
