Wouldn't want to take that bet, but there is a chance at a medal .. Capel
has proven to be a good big meet sprinter having shown well at last year's
NCAA as well as this year's Trials .. And his marks were consistent 19.87
and 19.85 .. So he has a chance to be in there .. Fredericks hasn't shown
anythign yet this year .. And Da Silva has not appraoched last year's form
either .. Obadele Thompson just doesn't seem to be where he was a couple of
year's ago .. So with the big 2 gone the only other potentially dominant 200
sprinters left would be Boldon and Obikwelu .. So I think there is still
hope for an American medal at 200 ..

I think the only solid chance at GOLD were MJ & MG (and of course a possible
1-2 with the 2 of them in the race) .. And the only other really solid 200
sprinter at HSI is Drummond

I wouldn't go quite that far .. HSI is definitely producing the top
sprinters right now .. But historically, regions or clubs have always done
that in Ameraica .. Before HSI there was SMTC (Santa Monica Track Club) ...
And at that time one could argue that sprinting was weak without SMTC .. And
before that everyone was in Southern California going to or training at UCLA
and USC ... Andn prior to that it was Speed City in San Jose .. So high
level sprinting has always been a "group" thing here in the US ...

Well let's see .. Brian Lewis has been very consistent for the past few
years, both in terms of times and placement in meets .. As has been Tim
Montgomery .. Bernard Williams has been strong all year long, and appears to
be getting stronger as evidenced by his lowering of his 200 PR (to 20.03) ..
And Coby Miller seems to be primed to break through here as he did in the
200 .. I would think that most countries would be happy to have Lewis,
MOntgomery and Williams as their top 3 let alone second eschelon ..
