NCAA Divsion 2 NE/NY District Qualifier
Franklin Park, Boston
The first "real cross country" day in the area - 40's and rain

Gary Mello of Bentley was challenged early on, but ran in alone from 4 miles to win
the NCAA D2
District meet. Realignment divided the previous district 1 putting New ENgland and
New York in
one district. Bentley and U.Mass Lowell looked to trade the leading team marks over
the five
lap course, with Lowell having the advantage at the finish.

The rain got harder and the course muddier for the women. Laura Trull of Stonehill
led from one
mile on, winning the 6K in 23:23; her Stonehill College team will make their first
appearance at
Nationals, accompanied by Southern Connecticut.
