Funnily enough, the question is not without merit. Northern Ireland, while
being a part of the United Kingdom, is not actually part of Great Britain.
Hence the team competing at Edmonton is named Great Britain and Northern
Ireland.

I thought only Americans were supposed to be this geographically clueless.
Apparently Canadians are no better.  And this particular question is
surprising from a country that still features the Queen on postage stamps
and money.
