Some non Canucks might be interested in this only because of its inanity. A 10 million dollar item and it was threatening to drown out the 145 billion dollar budget. Manley is revisiting the issue. Someone should lose their job for letting it in there. Manley has been shocked at the seemingly unanimous outrage. The sound of some serious back pedaling. The funny thing is that Manley got a pile of press because he ran the NY marathon. You would think he would know better.
"Manley said yesterday he was willing to revisit the issue. He seemed a bit taken aback by the reaction to his decision to tie the extra money to the success of the Vancouver/Whistler bid. Many of Canada's top past and present Olympians have spoken out strongly, calling the move a "complete joke" and a "total slap in the face." "It's something that I'll look back into," said Manley, after his speech at the Empire Club in Toronto." http://waymoresports.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=waymoresports/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1035777999421&call_page=WM_Home&call_pageid=979619472127&call_pagepath=Home/Home Regards, Martin -------- Original Message -------- Subject: T&F The Budget Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 13:40:30 -0500 From: "Martin J. And Paul Henderson, a member of the International Olympic Committee and president of the International Sailing Association, branded it an insult to athletes." http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20030219.wspot0219/BNStory/Sports/ Regards, Martin
