The current implementation works like a charm. Optional timeouts would
be nice, though (I just always use timeouts).
The problem is, which condition do you test for if you can't use
"UntilVisible", that works for every ajax request?
It should work even if that ajax request doesn't change anything in the
page.

so that timeout can be optional (but with a default value of 10sec)

to have doWaitUntilTextPresent and such variations.
