Only advice I can give is this doesn't really sound like a tacos problem. At least not from what i've seen so far.

I would make your page much much simpler than you even have it now. Try just including dojo in a bare bones html file with my alert function. If you can't get that to work I don't know what to say, it seems to be working for thousands of other people.

There was no change.
Setting the renderBaseTag to false on Shell and setting parseWidgets to false has no impact.
The alert at onload (your code that I added to the page) doesn't happen nor do I get the post during onclick of the checkbox.

Once again, thanks for your help.  I need to make a decision tomorrow as to whether to use Tacos4, based on the 10 July source snapshot.

Set renderBaseTag to false :) http://tapestry.apache.org/tapestry4/tapestry/ComponentReference/Shell.html

Also, you should probably set parseWidgets to false as well. (It's currently true in your template)

I added it in a <script> </script> just before the closing </body> tag in the html template.  The alert doesn't show up.

Ok, just to test - can you add this to the bottom of your page?

dojo.event.connect(window, "onload", function(){
     alert(dojo.byId("checkbox"));
});

Neither onClick nor onBlur have any impact:  still doesn't submit.
