What do you think?

I think 'literature' is not the best word for this.
Yes, literature can refer to any written works. But it often has a more restricted definition. eg from http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/literature "written artistic works, especially those with a high and lasting artistic value:" So that would exclude cookbooks for example, as well as many fiction books if they don't have enough 'artistic value'.

I suggest keeping it simple, ie tag it as book:genre

This tag could also be used for bookshops or libraries that specialise in a particular genre. I notice there is already a tag for books, which has some use: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:books
But that seems to be more about the type of books, not the genre.
