Instead of fire_hydrant:opening=cw fire_hydrant:opening=ccw You need to type: fire_hydrant:opening:direction=clockwise fire_hydrant:opening:direction=anticlockwise Also, because the primary usage for `direction` usually relates to heading, you could interpret the tag as an answer to the question "in what direction does the opening of the fire hydrant face"?
