Hi. I've tested Tails 2 on two relatively recent Dell laptops where I experience the same issue : the Gnome session doesn't start, under the standard "Live" configuration. I'm redirected again to the "login" dialog asking me whether I want persistence and more options. I've reported the issue with whisperback.
With the second Grub entry (Live "fallback" (?)), the display works, but Tails isn't exactly usable on 640x480 : many Gnome dialogs need to be moved around to display buttons, etc. I've seen that the working options correspond do nomodeset + vga=normal. I guess the problem lies in the KMS on a specific combination of graphics card, but I'm not so sure. Would there be likely options I can try to get a higher resolution while still on framebuffer (AFAIU) ? It's probably a Debian FAQ somehow, but maybe that could be useful to document ? I'm afraid this could be a show stopper for many end users (unless it's a problem of my USB key or something ? :-/) Thanks in advance.
