Andy, The easiest way to do this is to go to the taginfo page and click the JOSM link in the top left. As long as you have JOSM open this will download all the content with the artist:name tag key.
This is where I get stuck and have to refer to manually editing them. If you try to select all and edit a tag it will change not only the nodes, but also add the new tag to the nodes of the ways. There really needs to be a way to select nodes (if not part of a way) and ways without their nodes.
