I can’t speak for Chris, but I don’t see any point in just adding the centroids to the map as any satnav application already has access to that data and can even keep it updated easier by keeping it separate and just replacing the Opendata source file each time a new version is released.
I’m still not absolutely convinced that if we have all the roads and house numbers that postcodes are even necessary (other than for satnav users who are in the habit of entering them). Searching for the address should find it with or without the postcode being present. I can see they might be useful to distinguish between two roads with the same name in the same town, but I think that is fairly rare.
