Hi,I've just read the wiki page. I have some remarks and questions. The section "Address format" is not specific for Venice, which often uses a progressive numbering within sestrieri. The City of Venice provides the following guide: https://www.comune.venezia.it/it/content/toponomastica-0The links for "Data license" and "toponimi numeri civici" are not accessible (they are probably run time generated). In changeset tags, source:license=ODBL 2.0 is not correct. It should be IODL 2.0. URL is also not correct. It should be https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Catalogue/Venice_addresses_importPlease add a link to OSM conflator in the transformation section. There are many TBD placeholders that need to be filled in."Addresses and tags already present are merged by conflator using authoritative addr:housenumber and addr:street": but in most places in Venice addr:place is used.I believe this should be the right time also to fix unmatched addresses in OSM. Otherwise these will stay there for the forthcoming years. Is it correct to use blue pin for both matching and and not matching data in OSM? Isn't it confusing?Do you plan to involve mappers in Venice? How? I'm worried about the maintenance of these data after the import. Moreover, aren't just two (non-local) mappers too few to perform such an import? What if you need to check data on the ground? In Post-import QA section, "(map already centered on Milan)" is clearly not right. This section seems to generic and not specific for Venice.Addesses on building can be found using OSM inspector.BR,AndreaOn Fri, Sep 12, 2025 at 2:08 PM Premislav via Talk-it <[email protected]> wrote:Dear Italian community
I’m very interested in bringing Cascafico’s project of Venice addresses import forward, because on site (both for islets and mainland in Mestre) I saw relatively few addresses added in OSM in this touristically very important place 😭
During this summer vacation I surveyed one neighbourhood in particular (San Mauro) first and prechecked the accuracy of data, founding it generally matching the reality.
That’s why I contacted Cascafico and want now to start importing addresses in Venice. For the beginning I prepared a ready-to-be imported file for Burano .I'd like to upload the import changesets in bunches of no more than 500 elements at a time, ideally neighbourhood (sestiero) by neighbourhood.
Conflation with existing data will be done manually, this means checking every single point by using the “TO-DO” plugin in JOSM aided with the "Coloured Streets" rendering style.
There are now only ca. 90 addresses present for Burano & Mazzorbo (also a part of Burano in the dataset) - I don’t plan to override/change them, unless they are wrong, i.e. have no addr:place or have addr:street (which is wrong for Burano because the addresses there are not connected to streets but to neighbourhoods (sestiere) so they should follow the addr:place scheme) or are tagged to buildings/areas which is not right according to the convention in Italy.Post import quality check will be done using Nominatim QA , particularly with the Suspicious addr:street tag layer and/or OSM Inspector.
I would like to upload the Burano addresses by the beginning of the next mouth (November 2025).If you have any comments until then, feel free to contact me.Best greetingsPremislav
