Are these maps kosher for tracing? The Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293) has this to say:
"Section 176.1. No copyright shall subsist in any work of the Government of the Philippines. However, prior approval of the government agency or office wherein the work is created shall be necessary for exploitation of such work for profit. [...]" The Wikipedia community has taken this to mean that government works are still copyrighted because of the non-commercial clause. But, additionally, copyright in the Philippines generally persist for the author's life + 50 years or 50 years after publication/making depending on the work. So maps published in the 1950s *might* be OK.
