just to add: trunk/primary roads are main roads you can see at certain zoom levels and provide the route
i decide on secondary/tertiary/residential by observing how people use the road. i mark roads where jeepneys pass by either minor/tertiary at least and lastly, Garmin routing algorithm prefers trunk/primary/secondary in that order so the roads should be properly tagged for the algorithm to compute "best" route --- I explore, therefore I blog! http://www.backpackingphilippines.com http://www.facebook.com/backpackingPhilippines http://www.twitter.com/backpackPH On Apr 18, 2013, at 5:47 PM, maning sambale <emmanuel.samb...@gmail.com> wrote: > Dear Ervin, > > Common conventions are: > - trunk - roads connecting provinces > - primary - roads connecting towns/cities > - secondary/tertiary - this gets a little bit tricky but for me, but > I use tertiary for most roads connecting barangays > > More explanations here [0], which, I think should be updated. > > One common case for the PH is that trunk/primary/secondary/tertiary is > not necessarily a paved/concrete/asphalted road.
