I currently work as a Community Ambassador at CloudMade. As a Community
Ambassador I spend a majority of my time helping communities organize mapping
events and working with non-profit organizations to help them utilize OSM as a
tool to increase education about open geodata and geospatial education in

for the OSM-US board as an individual, not as a CloudMade employee or as part

Hi
One of the things we found at the OSMF is that you really need to be open about
any potential conflicts of interest, like where you work or if you hold shares
in TeleAtlas... that kind of thing. Anything a reasonable outsider could
conclude is a potential conflict.
I think that for your own good so it's not a surprise to people, all those
running for the board of OSMF-US should be upfront about it. I don't think
there's any shame in it, but I can tell you from experience that people get
very upset if you're not clear about everything from day 1.

i'm willing to start. i have no affiliations in the industry at the
present time,
just an IT consultant who is out looking for a full time gig, and working on
a startup which will have little to do with mapping.

Hey All,
I'm usually pretty up front about the fact that I work for FortiusOne.
It was an oversight with announcing my acceptance that I didn't
mention it.
FortiusOne uses OSM tiles on our public site http://www.geocommons.com
as well as the appliances. I personally maintain an open source
geocoder as part of my job which I would love to be able to put OSM
address data in at some point (when there is better US coverage). The
local DC OSM group meets occasionally in the FortiusOne office, since
the space is free and available.

I recently (Monday, actually) started working for a subsidiary of Garmin. We
do weather stuff, not geo stuff, but it is definitely relevant.

I work as an employee to a subcontractor at the National Library of
Medicine, under the National Institutes of Health.
We don't have any stake in any geo-technologies as far as I know- that
is neither my direct employer (IS Mavens) nor our customer.
Of course now (by NIH requirements) I'm required to state that
anything I say regarding anything is my opinion only and shouldn't be
taken as a reflection of NIH. I'm not representing them, nor am I
representing my employer.

Hello all,
If I haven't made it clear in the past, I'll make it unambiguous now: I work
for Traverse Technologies as a IT services contractor, largely for Federal
clients. Like many of you, we do have a geospatial service offering.
Although we work with many flavors of data and stripes of software, Traverse
Technologies is agnostic with respect to IT implementations and is not a
reseller of anyone's software and has no financial interest in any vendor of
geospatial products or services.

Along with a great group of nominees, I'm also honored to accept the
nomination for the temporary board of the US chapter of the OSM
Foundation.
As a temporary board member I would be committed to work on the the
processes, organizing, and paperwork that is needed to jump start the
US Chapter.
Based on my role with the OSM community and my contacts in the
regional mapping community, I feel like I have the necessary skills
and background to contribute to the process.
My first involvement with OSM came through my contributions to the
Mapnik project and over the last several years I enjoyed collaborating
with huge range of OSM enthusiasts to make better maps with Mapnik.
I run an independent consultancy [1] doing web development and mapping
work mainly for non-profits, government environmental agencies, and
small startups. I'm very excited about helping facilitate more
involvement, contribution, and innovative uses of OSM by US agencies,
and I'm encouraged by the possibilities of a US Chapter.
I have a background in biology and GIS and before starting my own
company I previously managed the Conservation GIS program for a non-
profit called the Wild Salmon Center in Portland, OR, which took me
across the Western US, Alaska, and Russia doing mapping work. Now, I'm
based out of Seattle, and continue to work with clients doing
environmental mapping, some of whom are actively using OSM [2].

I'm an engineer for the Navy. I particpate in OSM and am running for
the board in a wholly private capacity.
