Take, as an example, US 84 in western Alabama. Why on earth did you
change it to trunk when it's a terribly substandard road that isn't even
a major route between cities of any real size?

It's been rebuilt as a good-quality four-lane in Mississippi, eastern Alabama, and Georgia. Alabama has been a little slower at four-laning than its neighbors, but US 84 in western Alabama is still a direct route connecting the four-laned portions.
