Or a historian. In the Midwest, "St. Clair" could either refer to the saint or to Arthur St. Clair, whose name wasn't "Arthur Saint Clair". (See [1].) I often put the "Saint" misspelling in alt_name, since the etymology isn't always clear to people searching the map. Unfortunately, that still leaves an ambiguous name for text-to-speech. Too bad there isn't software support for name:pronunciation or name:ipa.
