Hi, I've recently become interested in OSM ... specifically, I'm interested in getting Cape Town mapped better, as well as other areas I'm familiar with which have good Yahoo! images. (And also Durban and Grahamstown, if I can get GPS traces).
I think it would be neat if those in South Africa added regional categories to their user profile pages on the wiki -- this gives some idea to the casual browser of who is doing anything with OSM in South Africa -- when I first looked at OSM it seemed that there was nobody doing anything in South Africa, until I joined the mailing list.
