Hi all, I'd like to introduce myself to everyone on the Talk ZA list, my name is Paul Boreham and have been a contributor to OSM for a few years now. I'm an expat, living in Dublin (Ireland) and thought I'd helpout with mapping ZA.
I have been working on importing some of the eThekwini data (with Ryan Peel). The road import is nearing completion, with a few outstanding areas to import. A few general queries regarding the data that has been made available to OSM: Firstly, What data are we allowed to use from eThekwini? Just the roads or are we also able to use POI's and rivers etc? Any details would be appreciated. Secondly, the shapefile data on the KZN DOT website, do we have permission to use this data? Thirdly, I have located "free" data on the Department of Environmental affairs and Tourism website. They are shapefiles for Nature Reserves, RAMSAR sites etc. See link: http://soer.deat.gov.za/themes.aspx?m=669 Have we got the official ok to use this data or should we seek official approval?
