Yes Bruce, I sure can. I am in a bit of a crunch at the moment, and will
give you a better response later if what I write below sounds like what
you want to do, but the quick and dirty is...

I navigate to the ABS screen.
I already have a patient entered. You may have to enter the Visit# to ID
who you are working on. Then at the select box, I do a search for the
Diagnosis entry, capture the number associated with it, and enter that
in the Select box.

Now that I am in the Diagnosis screen, I 'Enter' through the fields
until I get to the first blank DX one, and input the diagnosis there,
then find the first blank PX field, and start entering. Then I send an
F12, answer Y to file, and am done.

If you are already getting the DX, PX, and the Visit#, then what you
describe is real easy. Well, compared to what I am doing, because I have
to contend with a user sitting there that has to be patient and let the
script do its thing, besides any possible msgbox that might display.

If this sounds like what you are trying to do, let me know and I can
elaborate on it for you. The BWS learning part is important too. Have
you been using that?

Hi Lew,

I am interested in your work with getting codes into the ABS module.

Currently I have a Dictaphone Voice recognition system in our ED.
I send the signed reports via our eGate interface engine to Meditech,
and
generate an XML document which is sent to a Natural Language Engine that
returns the Diag and procedure codes for the Professional side of the ED
visit.

I need to get those codes into Meditechs ABS.

The codes that are coming back could be in either HL7 or Tagged, most
likely tagged
And, I am not sure what meditech can do for me as far as an interface.

Can you give me an idea of the process you use to get the codes in ?

Welcome Bruce, it is always good to get some fresh perspective from new
members.

I have been using BWS for about 5 months now. I was hired to write an
interface between Meditech MAGIC 4.9 Abstracting module, and third party
HSS's WinStrat Encoder application. It would have been nice to have a
smaller project to work with since I was new to all of the products I am
using. That way I would have gotten some sense of accomplishment and
confidence to go forward. As it is, the interface has proven to be quite
a challenge.

For several reasons.

And BWS has not been an issue at all. Taking into consideration that I
am learning BWS as I code, and my initial newness to the commands and
constructs, BWS has been a breeze. The big plus has been BWS support's
great help with my questions, and the immediacy with which they handle
them.

HSS offers an API for WinStrat, and that was going to be a great help,
except they are phasing out their message structure and going to XML. I
have some XML experience, but not enough to do this quickly. However,
just like BWS, HSS has great interface support, and that REALLY eased
the pain.

The gods are smiling on me. Now if they would only speed things up a
bit!

Planned next is another interface between our radiology product and
module. Then there have been requests for dictionary population, screen
navigation, and a Lab interface.

So, that should keep me busy for a while. If there are any of those
items you would be considering, especially the interfaces, I can give
you a bit of insight on them, particularly project time estimation. That
is something that was a gross error here. And the gotcha' wasn't
necessarily the tools, but some basic assumptions and miscommunicated
expectations.

It's all a learning experience, isn't it?

I look forward to corrosponding with you in the future,

Hi All,

I am new to this group, we are Meditech C/S, on an NT network.

At this time I am only using one copy of the WorkStation to do some
basic
job scheduling. I do have a goal of expanding the use of the app, but
would like to get ideas from others of what is being done.

I look forward to hearing from people and joining the BWS community.
