We don't use Magic at our facility, so I'm not sure how the user dictionaries
are for that version, but couldn't you just set the password change interval
for your script user to 999 days (the max), and then once a year go back and
reset them and then set it back to the original password? Just add an event to
your calendar or have a script email you? That way you have control over when
the password changes...

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Subject RE: [Talk] Meditech Magic Password Expiring (scheduling scripts)

You can set it up in windows scheduler using the following command line format:

c:\bss70\Bss80.exe C:\Bss70\Projects\BloodBank\BloodBank.bws /r BloodBank

Here, c:\bss70\bss80.exe is my application file.
C:\bss70\projects\bloodbank\bloodbank.bws is my project file, and bloodbank is
the script within the project file I want to run.  Make sure you include the /r
switch which runs the specified script within the project.

Mitch,

OK - I understand now.....  You just put it as a scheduled script to run every
90 days?  Is the only way to run a scheduled script to keep it open?

no. It’s hardcoded into the script.

Every month, on the 1st, the script logs into Meditech, goes to the password
change routine, enters in a new bogus password (hardcoded into the script),
files it, logs out of Meditech, waits 10 seconds, logs back into Meditech and
changes it back to what it was and logs back out.

Very simple rules script that takes about 3 minutes to run once a month.

We only do this for our scripting account.

Mitchell,

Can you send me your script?  I am curiuos how you are doing it?  Do you have a
file that holds the current password somewhere and changes it when the password
expires?

Thanks for your help!

We just have a rules script set up to run monthly that changes the password
then changes it back. Passwords expire 90 days after a new one is set, so the
timer never comes up.

Does anyone have a script they would share that changes the password when
Meditech prompts that the password is expiring?

I've been told you can use 2 passwords and just switch back and forth?  I'm
just not sure how you would hold the current password?

Any help would surely be appreciated!
