Different vendors have different white points, and almost every manufacturer ships with everything set as blue-white as possible so it'll look brightest in the store. A proper calibrated monitor looks pink by comparison, but it should be possible to get each monitor calibrated for seamless colours. (To go back the the "where are they made?" subtopic, Ontario used to be a major source of an element critical to high quality colour CRTs: yttrium, I think it was.
