The non thinkpads from lenovo are a lot less durable than the thinkpads. Thinkpads are generally just great, although the *x40 models that removed the physical buttson for the trackpoint were pretty universally hated. And a few models recently have had BIOS disasters (switch the graphics setting to discrete from automatic and the machine is bricked, and this is the documented recommended setting for Linux users.
