I agree with Tom Kingston's comments below. Malware Bytes can be run with an anti-Virus program since Malware Bytes is not itself an anti-virus program. It gets rid of malware and spyware. Those are different from viruses for which you need a anti-virus program. Just like Tom, I too have run Malware Bytes Pro on the same system as Eset Anti-Virus Security Suite for years. Once you buy the pro version, you own the pro version including all upgrades for life.

No, that is not correct.

MalwareBytes is designed to compliment a standard anti-virus program. It focuses primarily on the latest threats; adware, malware, spyware, trojans, rootkits, and web sites. And the free version does not run in real-time or update automatically. So it is doing nothing until you manually update it and manually run a scan. It is typically better at removing problems after they've infected your system than most anti-virus programs, which typically work best when things are trying to sneak in the back door.

I've had the Pro version for years and ran it along with Eset Nod32 and now MSE with no problems.

Actually this is not true. Many virus protection packages will allow you
to run them along side one another. Defender will not and if you do run
programs like this along side one another you are asking for trouble.

The only way you could use two antivirus programs is to run them manually
and separately. Pam.

Hi,
Generally, it is not recommended to have two real time antivirus scanners
running as this could create conflicts as well as slowing down the computer.

OK, Just one more question if I may. Should one run Defender along
with other virus checkers, or should it be run exclusively? I just
got a new computer, and we just installed the free version of Avira,
so really need to have an answer to this question.

Please feel free to reply off list at the above address.

Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated,

I understand that MS has a free multi-antivirus program called Microsoft

I am presently subscribed to Vipre internet protection. I have certainly
not
been in fected since using it but it is not free and I don't find it all
that accessible.

I won't renew my subscription if Microsoft has a free alternative. What do
people think?
