Not using the VLC software, but my one suggestion would be for you to maybe try to route the mouse to somewhere else. If the mouse sits focused on your timer, that could cause WE to continiously read it. So try hit Numpad-Home, and see if that fixes the trouble.

The other, more obvious solution, may of course be to alt-tab away from the VLC window, once the DVD has been started. Even, just hit the Window-key on your keyboard, and leave the startmenu focused while playing the DVD. Then, ifyou want get back to the VLC screen, hit Escape.
