9.0 or 9.1 -----Original Message----- From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+dennisl1982=gmail....@lists.window-eyes.com] On Behalf Of Robert Ringwald via Talk Sent: Saturday, April 16, 2016 2:18 PM To: Chris Skarstad; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: 2nd try - What version of WE will work with XP? Will WE 9 work?
Naw, I have Windows 10 & WE 9.2. My wife has an old Del desk top with XP. We'll be replacing it soon. She only uses it for Quicken. She is sighted. I want to be able to install WE on it to help her get rid of a lot of junk before we dump it. -BR -----Original Message----- From: Chris Skarstad via Talk Sent: Saturday, April 16, 2016 7:38 AM To: Robert Ringwald ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: 2nd try - What version of WE will work with XP? Will WE 9 work? As I understand it, Window-eyes 9.0 is the final version that works with xp. I'd also like to very gently point out that if you're still running xp, it really is time to seriously think about saving for an upgrade of your operating system. It's become really unsafe if you're constantly online, and I'd really hate to see anyone get infected. Microsoft no longer supports it so you're not getting any of the latest security updates, and these days, security is more important than ever before. Windows 7 has gone down in price as it's 2 versions behind the current one. I'm still running 7 and it works very well, but my next pc will quite definitely be running Windows 10. All the screenreader developers are working closely with Microsoft, and these days Windows 10 is a breeze to use. So, upgrade with confidence.
