Another aspect of links in messages is that sometimes messages are sent or received in plain text. In such a case, text the sender may have intended as links are presented as text and are not clickable. Those must be copied and pasted. What my email client, Outlook, does with plain text messages is to surround urls with a less than sign at the beginning and a greater than sign at the end. Unless a user has Window-Eyes configured to read math characters, he or she can accidentally include the less than and greater than signs in the copied text. Because they're not part of the url, they mess up your paste job in the browser address bar and you go nowhere. Or at least nowhere fun.
On those occasions when I must cut and paste an url from an email, I paste the text into the address bar, press Home and delete the less than sign, press End and delete the greater than sign, and press Enter. just something else to watch out for; hth. So what do you do then? The author can assign descriptive text to the hyperlink so that the recipient sees a meaningful link name in the message or Web page. This is a good thing to do as it helps the user understand the link's purpose more clearly. For example, the link text could be "Click here to learn more about product ABC". The author could also use the web page address as the link's text. For example, the link text might be "http://productABC.com. Not a good practice but people still do it. You can activate the currently focused link by pressing Enter on it. If you want to copy the links address to your clipboard, you can do so, but the process depends on your email client. In Outlook, after focusing the link, you can open the context menu and select Copy Link or something similar.
