Larry, using a touchscreen requires a good deal of practice, practice,
practice! And, patience! You'll need more than a dose of it. But, you can
do it if there are NO DEXTERITY issues.

Whilst you are familiarizing yourself with the concept, it may be nice to
allow yourself to double tap a key to register it. This way, when you find
the letter you want on the keyboard, lifting your fingers won't
inadvertently place the wrong letter in the edit box. Once you become a pro
at it, you will most certainly change over to lift typing and this has
already been described in some other post on the subject matter.

If you can, please consider visiting a phone store and play with as many
touchscreen devices as possible. If you want one to take home, find a
reasonably-priced Android touchscreen phone. I'm almost certain you can
find some at Walmart for about $60 or less. It won't be a flagship device,
but it'll surely help you get started slowly until Ms. Android becomes your
friend!

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado
