Hey Neville,
Using your instructions with jaws in TB I can see how many read and unread messages are in a folder, but I have to go into the folder to do this. Once I get to the bottom, activate the touch cursor and right arrow for a while, eventually I come across the read, unread and total.

I can't do this prior to entering the folder as you first mentioned was doable for you.

"The total number of messages in the folder can be obtained from the folder name prior to
"entering the folder. "

Perhaps there are some view settings I need to change.

Thank you for this info. It is a great way for me to get used to the touch cursor, and the more I can do with jaws that I used to do with Window-eyes the readier I will be for the future.

Hi Brenda,
I have verbosity set to intermediate but no desktop icons are indexed unfortunately.

Although Jaws does not index the messages in Thunderbird like WE did, there is a way to gain the information with Jaws. The total number of
The number of read and unread messages can be
located at the bottom of the screen with the touch cursor.
1. press control end to go to the bottom of the list of messages.
2. turn on the touch cursor with shift numpad plus.
3.use the right arrow to go down to the bottom where you will find the number of read and unread messages. Press numpad plus twice quickly to leave the touch cursor.

Hey Neville,

I have Jaws set to read the desktop that way (e.g. 15 of 26)but it doesn't work in TB. I think I found the setting in the help menu under start-up options - I changed the verbosity to intermediate. I'm pretty sure that is when the deskitop started reading 15 of 26 etc..

hth (if that is in fact what caused the change)

I know exactly what you are saying Brenda because I am missing this feature as well.

In one of Raul's mp3 tutorials on making the switch, the desktop icons read out their index number as he arrows around the screen. e.g. 15 of 26.
Has anyone been able to duplicate this and if so, how did you do it?

Thanks
Neville.

with Jaws is there a way to do this?

At least jaws reads how many unread messages in a folder, but I could have lots and lots of messages in my inbox and have no way to know it with jaws.

Also, with Jaws is there a way to find out "message 10 of 125" etc to know where you are in the message list?

what are Window-Eyes migrants doingabout these issues?

Thanks for any help.
