Pam,
The thing is that while JAWS doesn't have set files, per se, it has the
same idea. It just does it automatically. So any change you make that
isn't a global setting is saved for the current program. To make any
change global you have to remember to press Control-Shift-D before
making the change. This tells JAWS to save the change in the default
profile, or whatever they call it. You should hear something about
default when you press Control-Shift-D.

I don't get this! I have it set to none when reading screen

all that! How do I fix this? I have gone in the settings several
times, and I just can't get it to shut up. I was able to make the
keyboard echo shut up, but I can't seem to make all the settings work.

Dave.
Here is the direct link to download jfw.
www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/jaws. From there you just select
either
32 or 64 bit depending on what you have. As far as rather or not you have
home or pro or not is based on your authorization not the installer.
Aklso,
if you have the tandem build you will have access to auto update as well as
the ability to give access to your machine to fs if need be. HTH.
I have been a jaws user for years off and on. I have had a lisonce since
3.7 and have watched jaws go through several changes. If you wish you can
join the jaws users list at www.jaws-users.com. I think eric dammery is on
that list so you should have no trouble getting help there if need be.

Hi everyone,
Well as always I have not yet migrated to JFW. I always like to wait
awhile
for people to get a new update or new screen reader before I will give it a
try. I used to always do this with WE also because ther are numerous bugs
to be worked and so I wait until it is all in good working order.
Anyway, I am going to finally download JFW today. I am absolutely
terrified
since I had tried JFW before when I called them and they sent me a demo CD
to give it a try. I absolutely hated it and totally forgot about JFW and
continued with WE. d
Now I have saved a lot of the tips in a folder that has been shared on this
sight but one thing I did not save or accidently deleted is how to go about
the JFW download.
I have the link for the migration saved on IE so I am ready there.
What I am wondering is do I have to turn WE off to do the download or
can I leave it on to help me make the choices I need to make while
downloading JFW? I also have heard of different types of downloads like
home, professional, tandem. Which is the best to use. I assume it will be
home since I only have a home computer and do email, things on the web and
use Microsoft word. If I understand I should go tandem that way I can give
FO access to my computer if I run into problems.
Any help for the behind the times user would be greatly appreciated.
Please
also keep your fingers crossed I do not throw the computer out the
window if
things go haywire.
Dave
